What to check first
Poor cut quality
Replace or inspect the electrode first. Inspect the nozzle or tip opening for oval wear. Check swirl ring condition and seating. Verify air pressure and air quality before replacing the torch.
Arc starting issues
Inspect electrode wear and tip condition. Confirm all consumables are seated in the correct order. Inspect torch lead and trigger connection. Verify work clamp contact and machine output setting.
Consumable burn-through
Verify amperage is correct for the installed tip. Check stand-off height or drag shield use. Inspect air quality for moisture or oil. Confirm the shield and retaining cup match the torch family.
